李彦是加拿大新移民文学的代表作家之一，她的作品都以女性作为关注对象，描写她们在历史政治困境或移民现实生活中的挣扎与反省，从迷失到成长的心灵蜕变。本论文以李彦的中文小说（包括英文改译为中文的作品）作为研究对象，从历史反思、婚恋关系及现实生存等方面深入探讨其女性书写及女性价值观。
论文第一部分以《红浮萍》和《杏树岭》为主要分析对象，探讨新中国的革命女性迷失于理想、婚恋、母女关系问题的历史根源，指出政治/男性的控制和压抑导致女性的被动性和盲目性。除此，女性也缺乏清醒的自我认知；第二部分以《嫁得西风》、《羊群》和《海底》为主要分析对象，探讨作者对加拿大华人女性移民及异族女性面对生存艰难、理想破灭、婚恋纠葛等困境的思考。在新的移民情境中，作者暗示女性要想得到承认和尊重，应勇于在社会和婚恋中解放自我，实现人生价值；第三部分则突出李彦小说中的重复叙事手法及多重叙事声音等书写策略对表达她的女性观的重要性，但同样也指出这种策略存在的缺憾。
李彦的女性书写以其独特的方式呈现作者对自我生活经验的文学审美转化，在历史反思与现实书写的层面上塑造各类女性形象及命运，为华文文学提供了独特的文学经验。

Abstract
Yan Li is one of the representative Chinese New Immigrant writers in Canada andmainly concerns about women in her novels. Her novels describe women's historical andpolitical plights, delineate their struggles and reflections in the real life of immigrants, andrecord their spiritual transformation from confusion to growth. This thesis focuses on YanLi's Chinese novels （including those rewritten from her English novels） with the intentionto analyze the female writing and to explore the female values from the aspects of historicalreflection, marriage and love relationships, the existence in reality and so on.
The first part of the thesis centers on Daughters of the RedLand and Apricot Ridge andinvestigates the historical reasons for Chinese revolutionarywomen's loss in ideals, inmarriage and love, and in the mother-daughter relationship after1949 from the perspective of narrative mode. It concludes that these women's passivenessand blindness are mainly caused by political/male control and repression.Besides, these women are lack in clear self-recognition. The second part focuseson Married to the West, The Sheep and The Seafloor. Analyzed from the respective ofnarrative mode, this part discloses the writer's attitudes towards the hardship tosurvive, the disillusion and the marriage dilemma Canadian Chinese femaleimmigrants and ethnic women are faced with. The writer suggests that women should becourageous to liberate themselves and to realize the value of life in order to be recognizedand respected in the new immigrant circumstances.The third part analyzes the multiplenarrative voices and repeated narrative methods from the perspective of narrative strategy,in order to demonstrate how the writer expresses her self-significance and emphasizes theimportance to make women's voice heard through literature.
In conclusion, Yan Li succeeds in transforming her life experiences into literaryaesthetics through her unique female narratives, manages to create various femalecharacters with different fates on the level of historical reflection and realistic narration,and sets a unique example for Chinese literature.
